A graded artiste of Doordarshan Mumbai, Anupama had her early training in Bharatanatyam under Guru Kalaimamani Smt. Jayanthi Subramaniam in Chennai. She has also learnt nattuvangam from Bhagavathulu Shri Seetharama Sharma. In Mumbai, Anupama continues to learn under the mentorship of Guru Smt. Geetha Venkateswar whom she also assists in choreography and teaching. She has also done advanced training in Nattuvangam under the well known Mumbai nattuvangam Guru Shri Kalishwaran Pillai.

Apart from her traditional learning under her two Gurus, Anupama has also completed her Visharadh in Bharatanatyam (equivalent to Bachelors) from Shreevallabh Sangeetalaya, recognised by the Government of Maharashtra (2019), securing First Class with Distinction. She has also completed her Teacher’s Diploma in Nritya YogSutra from Yashwantrao Chawan Maharashtra Open University, Nashik (2020), securing First Class with Distinction.

Anupama has given several solo and group performances in Chennai sabhas such as Music Academy Spirit of Youth, Bharat Kalachar, Krishna Gana Sabha, Mylapore Fine Arts, etc. and in Mumbai at Kinkini Festival, The Fine Arts Society, Natyanjali Mumbai, etc. She has participated in dance dramas and group performances by Singapore Fine Arts (SIFA) and Association of Bharatanatyam Artists of India (ABHAI). She has performed abroad in places like Colombo, London and Paris as well.
